What is Plasma?

As more and more energy is put into a gas, the gas molecules collide at higher and higher speeds causing some of them to be ionized due to the collisions, leaving behind negatively charged electrons and positively charged ions.  The resulting mix of interacting gas molecules, electrons and ions form the plasma state of matter.
